Doris J. Bullock is being recognized as the 2019 Emerald Award Honoree for Services to Youth at our 10th Annual Emerald Award program.
Doris J. Bullock is the Director of Student Retention at Shaw University. She is a higher education administrator with more than 20 years of leadership experience in student, academic, judicial and community affairs. Ms. Bullock was selected as the 2018 Woman of the Year by the Shaw University Male Initiative for her support and commitment to ensuring that students are receiving the support that they need to be successful and persistent from year to year.
Ms. Bullock is a huge supporter and advocate for women experiencing and overcoming challenges and obstacles. She is heavily involved in community affairs throughout the region, such as being selected as the 2018 Guest Speaker for the Professional Women’s Networking Brunch: Defining Your Destiny for InStepp, Inc., (a community-based charitable organization that provides services to women who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking, and immigrant women). Ms. Bullock served as the Moderator for the 2018 Pumps & Purses event in Raleigh, NC. This event brings together women from various professions for lunch, networking, and healthy conversation while supporting formerly incarcerated women, women in low income communities, and homeless women in transition.
